Cross Party Group on Obesity Introduction
From 2008-2011 ScotPHN provided the secretariat to a Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Obesity. It was convened by Nigel Don, MSP.
It was a forum for MSPs, health professionals, researchers and other interested parties to discuss and influence national strategy for dealing with problems of obesity. Membership on this group came from a range of sectors including health professionals, local authorities, researchers, the schools sector, the voluntary sector and transport and spatial planning.
Meetings
Meetings were held as follows:
- 16 March 2011 – The CPG on Obesity was formally disbanded at this meeting prior to the Scottish May 2011 election. The CPG produced a legacy paper which provides recommendations to any future CPG formed with an interest in obesity or related area. This paper is available on this page.
- 27 October 2010 – Due to emergency parliamentary business, no MSPs were present. Therefore this meeting was not officially a meeting of the CPG.
