Introduction
On behalf of the Scottish Directors of Public Health, ScotPHN has developed a process for decision making re allocating funding.
This work has sought prioritisation tools which enable identification of both the magnitude of a health problem and methods of intervention which are both feasible and effective. These tools will ideally have a focus on prevention of illness and promotion of health.
The broad objectives of this work were:
- To describe the use of prioritisation tools as they relate to the Public health function within resource allocation in integration of Health and Social Care services in Scotland.
- To signpost relevant research and policy documents and provide an overview of what is being done already in Scotland.
- To inform and stimulate further work in this area and highlight research and evaluation needs for the future.
