Read HERU’s latest Newsletter: The April 2018 issue features the attendance of HERU at the awards ceremony for the Queen’s Prize for Higher and Further Education at Buckingham Palace in February. The University of Aberdeen received the award in recognition of the health economics and health services research undertaken in HERU, and at our sister unit the Health Services Research Unit, over the last forty years.

Return on Investment on Public Health Interventions: Read about a systematic review, published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, which suggests that local and national public health interventions are highly cost-saving. Cuts to public health budgets in high-income countries therefore represent a false economy, and are likely to generate billions of pounds of additional costs to health services and the wider economy.
